The political prisoner Modeste BOUKADIA fainted during the night of July 2 to 3, 2017 at the Guenin Hospital in Pointe-Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. The incident was due to fumes of freshly applied paints applied on the walls of the corridor.
The charity UNION-CONGO, which regularly blows the whistle on human rights violation in Congo Brazzaville, is concerned about the health of Mr. Modeste BOUKADIA. M. Boukadia was the victim of an assassination attempt at Pointe-Noire prison by the prison director, Pierre PONGUI, who is politically protected by his nephew, the Justice Minister in Congo Brazzaville Pierre Mabiala.
That crime has left Mr. Boukadia greatly diminished. He has been held in a clinic since December 2016 suffering from extreme back pain, from unstable blood pressure that can cause a heart attack at any time, and from difficulties to breathe that require the use of medical ventilators at night.
The health of Modeste BOUKADIA is deteriorating. Doctors have established that his condition cannot be cured in Congo and imperatively requires his urgent hospitalisation in a specialised hospital with the necessary pieces of equipment to deal with heart surgeries and ailments.
The charity UNION-CONGO is launching an appeal to the institutions and international organizations authorized, as well as to the Consulate of France in Congo, to act fast to save this man as the authorities in Congo Brazzaville want to see him die in prison like the late Colonel Marcel Ntsourou.
